Why I stopped using 20i

I joined 20i back in October 2017 – four years ago. Back when their reseller program was £29.99 plus VAT per month.

When I was first using them, their platform was offering a combination of Windows, Linux and WordPress hosting (which was an optimised version of their Linux hosting dedicated to WordPress). At £35.99 a month all in, it was something I thought would be great to host all my blogs and film-related stuff plus a few websites for friends.

It became apparent though that there were things that came as standard with reseller accounts elsewhere; for example being able to use vanity nameservers.

However, the price went up in July of 2019; £31.99 excl. VAT. It then went up again to £34.99 excl VAT in November… that’s only 4 months later.

Then they brought in U.S. hosting as an addon, but wanted an extra £19.99 plus VAT per month to be able to use it. I wouldn’t have minded a base price increase of a couple of quid… but they have just announced that the price of their reseller accounts will be increasing to £39.99 excl. VAT per month from the 1st of November.

These prices are just not within my budget any longer. Instead, I’ve shifted over to RackNerd, whom offer a free ClientExec with any hosting account… they are an upcoming provider that are good at what they do.

20i Addons (excl. VAT)
£80 per year for vanity nameservers.
Daily backups £10 per month for up to 50 accounts.
Microsoft SQL databases £9.99 per month per 1GB database.
Larger than 10GB mailboxes, additional 10GB per mailbox £9.99 per year.
WHMCS £9.99 per month.
USA Hosting £19.99 per month.
